WORKING WITH CONDITIONS
When the underlying conditions are brought into view a different kind of work becomes possible. The focus shifts from introducing new initiatives to understanding and engaging with the factors that shape how those initiatives will land. Attention moves to how decisions are actually made, how meaning is formed and hoe patterns of behaviour are reinforced over time. This creates the basis for more deliberate and effective action.
Working with these conditions does not require wholesale transformation or disruption. It is often more precise than that. Small shifts made in the right place and at the right time can begin to alter how the system responds. Decisions can be reframed so that they align more closely with how authority is truly exercised. Assumptions can be surfaced and tested, creating space for alternative interpretations. Areas that were previously protected or avoided can be approached differently, changing what is seen as possible.
Over time, these adjustments begin to accumulate. Effort is less likely to dissipate and more likely to build. Momentum becomes easier to sustain because it is working with the system rather than against it. Change is not simply introduced but becomes integrated into how the system operates. This does not remove complexity but it does change how it is navigated. What once felt constrained or unpredictable begins to open up, not through force or will power but through a more deliberate shaping of the conditions that determine what can happen next.
